Our full-length courses give MORE Field Guide College students opportunities to attain FGASA-certified qualifications and invaluable experience in the field. Graduates have the option of entry into more advanced courses or work experience at a top safari lodge, setting them on the right track to a guiding career.
Our short courses are a great introduction for those considering a career in field guiding, as well as ideal for qualified field guides who want to up-skill and keep up to date with industry developments. They also offer those looking for an on-the-ground adventure in Africa during a gap year or sabbatical an enriching life experience.

MORE Career Course
Full-length 1-year course, with 6 months spent at one of the MORE safari lodges
Is your ultimate goal to become a MORE Field Guide?
Are you passionate about nature and people, a high achiever, and a South African citizen?
Yes, yes, and yes… We want you!
Our trainees are:
- Dedicated students, who want to embark on a career with MORE – one of the highest-rated safari companies in the industry
- University graduates of nature conservation, tourism and hospitality programmes, going after a career in ecotourism
- Qualified field guides, adding to their skill set and seeking out a career with MORE
- South African citizens who are 21 years old or older, or 20 turning 21 within the course year

MORE Guide & Trails Experience
6-month course or 1-year course with 3- or 6-month internship/placement guaranteed should the correct documents i.e. VISA be in place (more information on next page)
Steer your career off the beaten track and become a field guide! You’ll spend an unforgettable time in the African bush, learning about the wildlife, environment, how to conduct safaris both on game drives and trails, and other essential skills.

MORE Guide Experience
Short course – 3 months
Embark on an incredible outdoor adventure and set your sights on becoming a NQF2 Nature Site Guide (FGASA) picking up diverse skills and knowledge as you go. This course is limited to a few students; make sure you’re one!

- Gap year students and those on a career break looking to truly experience the African bush
- Aspiring field guides wanting to lay a good foundation for a career in the ecotourism industry
- Both South African and international citizens

MORE 60-Day NQF2 Nature Site Guide (FGASA) Course
Short course – 60 Days
Explore the African wilderness, while gaining valuable insight into the world of field guiding.
Our trainees are:
- Gap-year students, and anyone on a career break or extended holiday
- Anyone wanting to learn more about wildlife and the African bush
- Both South African and international citizens

MORE Adventure
Short course – 3 months
Embark on a true learning and life experience in the African bush to become an Apprentice Trails Guide, gaining valuable knowledge and associated skills along the way. Places on the course are limited – secure yours now!
Our trainees are:
- Gap year students and those on a career break looking to spend a meaningful time out in nature
- Qualified guides, who want to enhance their qualifications and gain more experience in different fields, like tracking
- Both South African and international citizens

MORE Apprentice Trails Guide
Short course – 1 month
Headed in a new direction? This course offers you the opportunity to experience the African bush on foot, bringing you closer to nature, while training for your Apprentice Trails Guide qualification.
Our trainees are:
- Gap year students and travellers on an authentic bush experience, learning what it takes to be a trails guide
- Qualified field guides, adding ‘trails guide’ to their résumés
- Both South African and international citizens

MORE Extra
Short course – 1 to 4 weeks (subject to availability)
Take your guiding up a gear or get a taste for adventure with our extra course modules. Either way, they will expand your horizons.
Our trainees are:
- Anyone looking to experience some of the most exciting aspects of our courses, and enjoy time away in the bush
- Qualified field guides looking to become more skilled and access new opportunities

NQF2 Nature Site Guide (FGASA) Theory Online Course
Online course – 17 modules
Complete the theory portion of your course on our easy-to-navigate e-learning platform, with access to our FGASA Facilitators for online assistance.
- All 17 Modules will be done online
- Included will be recorded lessons as well as live Q&A sessions with facilitators where needed
- This is the first level of FGASA qualification to start your career as a Field Guide
- NOTE: You will still be required to do the practical time in the bush, which can be done at MORE Field Guide College
