WELCOMING OUR NEW SALES MANAGER, MITCH BLOEM

Life often comes full circle and for Mitch Bloem it has done exactly that. When he joined MORE Field Guide College as a student back in 2018, none of us knew it would one day lead to him being our new MORE Field Guide College Sales Manager. Welcome to the team Mitch!

Mitch has in fact been part of our family for a while. We thought we would get to know him a little better…

Tell us more about your experience in the field.

The past six years have been an adventure. My journey at the college in 2018 equipped me with the knowledge and skills to start my guiding career. The MORE Field Guide College campus is located in the stunning Marataba Game Reserve – the ideal place to learn about the abundant flora and fauna that captivates South Africa. During my time at the college, I harboured close bonds of friendships that will last a lifetime and had the privilege to become a part of the MORE Family Collection. Since then, I’ve guided guests at Marataba Luxury Lodges and Lion Sands Game Reserve. Being able to experience two completely different parts of South Africa has truly been a special experience. One of the most rewarding parts of being out in the field is meeting and making lasting connections with guests from all around the world. Being a Field Guide is honestly an enriching experience that allows one to be the link between nature and the guests.

What are you most excited about in your new role?

Stepping into my new role, I look forward to learning and growing. I’m most excited about sharing my experience and welcoming new students to the MORE Field Guide College and my goal is to reach far and wide to inspire local and international students to join our family.

Your favourite safari memory?

Wow my favourite safari memory – Thats a tough one! I have been blessed with many magical moments out in the bush, but this one that still gets my heart pumping to this day. I was on a bushwalk with my guests, walking along the Sabie River. We saw a female nyala antelope drinking water on the opposite side of the river, so we decided to find some shade and watch her. We made ourselves comfortable in the shade of a beautiful tree, and just as we settled in, a female lioness ran straight towards the nyala chasing it through the Sabie River towards the side we were on. We watched this scene unfold in front of us, and after the lioness and nyala jolted past us into the bush, we all looked at each other with huge eyes and pumping hearts. This was truly a once in a lifetime experience.
